La Salle College entered two teams in this year’s Mock Trial Inter-School Competition, which is organised by the Law Society of WA.
La Salle Young Guns and La Salle Regulators have worked incredibly hard over the last seven months to achieve outstanding results! The two teams, made up of a range of students from Years 10 to 12, fought hard and put in so much effort to achieve several wins, and it really proved to pay off.
The La Salle Young Guns won all three of their trials and have not only the honour to be the first La Salle Mock Trial team to participate in the finals of the competition, but also holds the honour of placing overall third in the state competition.
Unfortunately, the Young Guns were knocked out of the finals by Guildford Grammar by 4 points with a score of 142 out of 175. The judge admitted the trial had been the best he had seen in his time within the competition and gave glowing reports to the Young Guns.
A huge thank you to Miss Handley, Mrs Haynes, Miss Fairbairn, and 2017 Head Boy, Luke Spadano who gave up their afternoons and evenings to help with coaching and guiding both teams through the competition. Many students were new to the competition this year and we would not have gotten anywhere without these wonderful teachers! We look forward to competing again next year.
